Innova Disc Golf Drivers

Innova pioneered modern disc golf and remains a top choice for beginners and pros alike. Innova disc golf drivers include the Destroyer, Teebird, Leopard3, and Firebird. Available in multiple plastics for all player levels.

What to Look for

  • Don't go too fast

It's easy to think you can grab a Speed 12 or 13 driver and expect you'll be able to throw it 400 feet. It takes some skill to get a high speed disc to reach it's maximum potential flight.

If you're getting started, not going above a Speed 9 disc will be a more enjoyable experience.

  • Watch Your Stability

Discs with large amounts of fade are useful and can be fun to throw, but also take a little bit of skill.

Find the right balance of turn and fade and you'll get some great distance out of many drivers available today.

When you’re new to disc golf, building your bag with just a few well-chosen drivers is the perfect way to boost your confidence and your game. Start by picking drivers with flights that work together:

  • A straight-flying driver for reliable long throws
  • An overstable option with dependable fade at the end, especially in the wind
  • A slightly understable disc for easy turnovers and shaping trickier shots

Don’t be afraid to try drivers in different plastic types, too. The feel in your hand can make a bigger difference than you might expect. You might just discover a disc that feels tailor-made for your style.

Innova Teebird

The Innova TeeBird is one of disc golf's most well known molds. Many have tried to copy it, but there is only one original Teebird.

It's the perfect combination of easy to throw speed, reliable glide, a hint of high speed stability, and a predictable fade at the end of the flight.

We sometimes refer to the Teebird as the "Honda Civic of Disc Golf" — It isn't the most flashy or most exciting disc there is, but it is always there for you and won't let you down.

Innova Destroyer

The Innova Destroyer has been a benchmark for nearly every distance driver following it.

Much like the TeeBird, there are many like it, but nothing comes close to the Destroyer itself.

Designed for pure distance while still having some control, the Destroyer can be found in many disc golfer's lists of favorite discs. It does take some power to get it moving, but once you do, the results are great.

What's a fairway driver? What's a distance driver?

Fairway drivers are traditionally Speed 6-9. They are usually a little easier to throw, but can still get you nice distance.

Distance drivers are Speed 10 and above. The rim is a bit wider and they take more power to get up to speed so you can see the maximum performance.

Does a disc's weight matter?

The weight of your disc makes a real difference in how it flies, but the “best” weight often depends on your individual throwing style. Lighter discs are generally easier for beginners to throw and can help you get more distance with less effort.

However, lighter discs tend to be more affected by windy conditions. Heavier discs require a little more power to throw but will usually fly more consistently when the wind picks up.For most players just starting out, drivers in the 168 to 172 gram range are a comfortable choice. Most drivers can go up to 175 grams, which is the legal maximum for most disc golf play.
