If you are in the Bloomington, Illinois area, you can bring them directly to our shop and we'll process the trade in-store.
Powergrip Used Disc Sleepy Scale
We evaluate used discs using the following condition scale:
- 10: This is what we sell new. Used discs aren’t a 10.
- 9: Field tested for 1-2 rounds. Could pass for brand new. No ink.
- 8: Some wear, but still in good condition.
- 7: Minor dings or scuffs. Has been used for many rounds. The rim won’t be smooth, but no major damage.
- 6: Heavily worn, but retains its shape. Often past their prime, but can easily be added to any bag.
- 5: Heavily worn, a noticeable gash, maybe some warping.
- 4: Hard to determine what disc it is. Rim is full of wear. Heavily beat up.
- 1-3: Too worn. Won't be accepted.
Note: Ink markings may reduce the disc’s grade.
Trade-In Guidelines
We accept clean, good-quality discs made from premium plastic and offer fixed store credit pricing. If you have rare, collectible, or high-value discs and prefer not to accept our set prices, we encourage you to sell them independently for the best return.
- Sellers must have legal ownership of all discs.
- We do not purchase stolen discs. Suspicious activity may be reported to authorities.
- For this reason, we issue store credit only.
- Cash payments may be offered at times and may be limited to in-store transactions only.
Who Can Trade
We trade only with private individuals aged 18 or older.
Discs We Do Not Accept
- Dirty or unclean discs
- Discs graded 1–4
- Drivers made from base plastic
- Putters or Midranges in base plastic at an 8 or lower
How We Value Used Discs
All trade-ins are evaluated at predetermined standard prices. In some cases, if our staff recognizes a disc’s higher market value, they may offer more at their discretion. For unique or rare items, we may request to hold the discs for a more thorough evaluation.
Final Steps
When selling your discs, you’ll receive a receipt to sign confirming:
“I have reviewed the terms and conditions and confirm that I have the right to sell the listed products. We have mutually agreed on the price, which has been credited to me as stated below.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Is ink ok?
Is ink ok?
Yep! In most cases, ink isn't a problem. If there is a lot of ink on the bottom or top of the flight plate, we may reject it, but if it's a bit of rim ink or a small amount on the flight plate, it's no problem.
How beat-in can the disc be?
How beat-in can the disc be?
If you think there is still life in the disc, then it's completely fine. If it has been run over by a truck, seen a huge gash come out of it, and a dog chewed it, then it may be beyond what we'd accept.
Think of it this way, if you found that exact disc in a used bin, would you get excited about it? If no, then it may not be worth trading in.
Are photos required?
Are photos required?
No, but it makes it a bit easier for us. Once we see a list of what you'd like to trade in, we may ask for a photo. It doesn't need to be individual photos of each disc too. One group shot where we can clearly see them is likely enough.
How long does it take to get my store credit?
How long does it take to get my store credit?
Once the discs arrive at the shop, we'll want 1-3 business days to process them. It should be pretty quick, but we don't want to over promise.
Why do I have to pay for shipping?
Why do I have to pay for shipping?
To make things as easy as possible and with the variance in shipping costs, we ask that you ship them to us. Save your reciept and we'll issue additional store credit for whatever your shipping costs were.
Use standard shipping though. Don't try and pull a fast one with Priority Express Next Day Super Duper Fast shipping that costs $300. While we want your discs, we don't need them that quickly.
What do you do with these discs?
What do you do with these discs?
We currently sell them in our Bloomington store for a flat rate of $10 per disc. We often run promotions where you can get them for even less than that.
Expect to see used discs online soon too.
